About Us

The Virginia Commonwealth University Children’s Medical Center (VCU Children’s) is a state-of-the-art, family-centered, full-service “hospital-within-a-hospital.”  VCU Children’s is a place of healing and hope. The faculty and staff at VCU Children’s are devoted to providing comprehensive pediatric healthcare, educational experiences in all aspects of pediatric medicine, and life saving research initiatives.

Our pediatric team consists of a comprehensive network of primary care physicians, nurses, pediatric sub-specialists, surgeons, child life specialists, social workers, and ancillary medical staff, all of whom are trained specifically to care for the most
critically ill and injured children.  Our team provides nearly 50 medical, surgical, and support services for children and teens from birth to age 21. Our wide-ranging services span every imaginable diagnosis, such as diabetes, asthma, cancer, cardiac problems, cystic fibrosis, as well as injuries sustained from traumatic events.

Not only do we treat the medical needs of children-but we treat the whole child. VCU Children’s provides its patients and families with a wide range of support
services including child life, hospital education, and social work. The team at VCU Children’s strives to treat every child like their own.
