Established in 1934, the Pediatric Residency Program at the Virginia Commonwealth University Medical Center has a long and rich history. Our program provides a broad and truly outstanding pediatric educational experience. As a resident in our program, you will be provided with a comprehensive and stimulating curriculum that includes clinical care, teaching, and research. Our faculty is committed to providing the highest quality education in a supportive and collegial atmosphere. The faculty empowers residents to learn the critical management skills necessary to function autonomously, while always remaining readily and easily accessible. The residency program emphasizes balance, diversity, and flexibility. It is designed to provide you with exposure to a wide variety of pathology and patient care environments, while serving the urban, suburban, and rural pediatric populations of Richmond and surrounding areas.

Mission Statement
The mission of the VCU Medical Center Pediatric Residency Program is to train physicians to become expert pediatricians committed to providing superior medical care to infants, children, and adolescents. Our curriculum emphasizes the delivery of compassionate medical care, an active role in child advocacy, a dedication to community service, a plan for lifelong learning, and a desire for the advancement of medical knowledge.
